It’s 2017 and as usual Google has made a few updates to their algorithm. Here are my top 10 proven website optimization tips:

  1. Create authoritative content on your homepage by lengthening the word
    count to over 100 more words then each of your top four competitors on Google for
    your main keyword. Include all of your most relevant keywords. Aim for 3-5% keyword
    density (30-50 keywords within a 1,000 word article)
  2. Optimize your headline with your main target keyword. Include this same
    keyword in the first paragraph of your homepage. For maximum effect, make this
    keyword bold (no more than one time on the homepage).
  3. Make sure you leave plenty of white space in all of your content
    site wide. This not only improves your search engine rankings it also makes it
    easier on your readers. Keeping your paragraphs between 6-10 lines is recommended.
  4. Include links to all of your website pages on your homepage. This
    is called interlinking and helps the search engines navigate your site
    more naturally. This positively effects your rankings in the search
    engines. Whenever the opportunity arises, link to another page on your site.
  5. Optimize the file names an alt tags for all of the images on your site with keywords
    you’re trying to rank for. Many SEO’s fear images because they can have a negative
    impact on your rankings, but these small changes will make your images
    have a positive effect on the overall SEO of your site.
  6. Link out to at least one or two relevant authority sites (for example a relevant article
    on This looks very natural to the search engines and helps
    improve trust. Don’t over use this step, one or two outbound links on your
    homepage is adequate.
  7. Optimize the page titles, descriptions and meta tags for each page
    on your site with keywords. If you’re using WordPress a great plugin to use for

  8. Disable any flash players or anything else that could potentially slow down your
    website’s load speed. The search engines always prefer the highest quality search

    Sitemaps) and submit it to Google Webmaster tools (create an account

    Robots.txt). This gives important information about your site to web
    robots as they analyze your website.
